Spoleto is one of the most historically rich cities in Umbria, with evidence spanning from Roman times — the Arch of Drusus, the Roman theater — to the Lombard Duchy, of which it was the capital, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with other sites on the “Longobards in Italy” route.
The symbol of the city is the Ponte delle Torri, an imposing medieval bridge-aqueduct that spans the gorge of the Tessino stream, with a spectacular view of the Rocca Albornoziana, the 14th-century fortress that dominates the historic center.
